I am a very visual learner. In order to understand something complex, I need to be able to see it, feel it, watch it in motion and map it to something I already know and then also have a go myself.
When I began trying to understand the concepts of ECS and Docker on AWS, like I always do, I began my search for a tutorial that hit all the points above (not an easy task).
After lots of searching I came across J Cole Morrison's The Hitchhiker's Guide to AWS ECS and Docker
This bit got me at hello “This is a conceptual guide. Not a technical step-by-step. If you're looking for that, I have a full one of those here..“
What J Cole Morrison has created here is a full on mental framework with a 10 part video series to go with the amazing written material.
J Cole Morrison uses space ships, shipping containers and Star Trek metaphors to allow the reader to seamlessly absorb the complex concept of containers, orchestration and docker on AWS.
It’s amazing and best of all, it is totally free and sets up what is likely to be amazing learning journey for all things AWS devops over at AWS Devops.
